Resolution on the drafting of women into the armed services, approved by Covenant session at its 5/18/21 meeting

That as the drafting of women into the armed services of the United States is contrary to God’s natural order for man and woman (Deut. 24:5; 1 Cor. 11:3; Tit. 2:5) and violates Scripture (Num. 1:2-3; 1 Pet. 3:7), the Session of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Buford, Georgia, considers any attempt to force female participation in military draft or conscription measures to be a violation of the Word of God. Should the United States Government attempt to institute such measures, we will recommend the Christian women of draft age in this congregation to “conscientiously object,” refuse to register for the draft, and take any and all legal measures to protect themselves from such an egregious act of overreaching government authority and subverting of God’s moral order. (originally approved in 2005; updated 2021)
